The wedding of Dhayanidhi Alagiri, one of the successful producers and distributors of Tamil cinema, is going to be a high profile affair with top guns of Indian politics taking part in it.

The temple city of Madurai is all prepared for the elevated profile wedding of Union Minister M K Alagiri”s son Durai Dayanidhi. The city wore a joyful look with high power lights and bulbs enlightening the main roads where the wedding of Dayanidhi with Anusha Sitaraman, daughter of a Chennai based lawyer, is being held.


Alagiri has also invited Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi however they are unlikely to attend. Some of the mosts expected guests for today’s wedding are Union Ministers Praful Patel, P Chidambaram, G K Vasan, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Dayanidhi Maran & Karnataka CM Yeddyurappa.

Film stars also made their presence felt with actors Kamal Haasan, Khushboo, Surya, his brother Karthi, Madhavan and Vadivelu going on stage to wish Alagiri’s son Durai Dayanidhi and his fiancee Anusha Seetharaman, daughter of Chennai-based lawyer Seetharaman.

Chhath puja is a way to be thankful to the Sun for giving the gifts of life on earth and to request the Surya for the completion of wishes. The Sun, considered the god of power and of the soul.

It is celebrated mainly in Bihar, Jharkhand and the Terai regions of Nepal, and in those areas where people from those areas have an existence. Chhath is an ancient Hindu festival dedicated to Surya, the Hindu Sun God, Surya, also known as Surya Shashti. The Sun, considered the god of energy and of the life-force, is worshiped during the Chhath fesival to promote well-being, prosperity and progress. In Hindu mythology, Sun worship is believed to help cure a variety of diseases, including leprosy, and helps ensure the longevity and prosperity of family members, friends, and elders.
